What NSYDR will never do for you
This is the most important thing on any page in this product. Every member reads it before they join anything, and it is here so that anybody deciding whether to join can read it first.
The Boundary
NSYDR is not emergency monitoring or dispatch. NSYDR does not watch for emergencies and cannot send help. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency service. Members here may respond when they can, and nobody is on call.
In Plain Words
- Nobody is on call. Members respond when they can. Some days that is minutes, some days it is not at all.
- Nothing is being watched. NSYDR does not read your responses looking for a crisis, and it does not alert anyone on your behalf.
- Nothing is escalated. There is no chain, no duty roster, no service that gets called if you go quiet.
- “Connect now” promises nothing. It is the strongest way to ask people you have named. It is still only a request.
Where to go instead, when it is urgent
- Immediate danger to you or anyone else: call 911, or your local emergency service number.
- Mental-health crisis in the US: call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
- Outside the US: use your country’s emergency number and its local crisis line.
- Ongoing clinical, pastoral or professional care: a circle is not a substitute for it. NSYDR does not provide it and does not refer you to it.
